Osteoarthritis Symptoms Prevention and Treatment
Osteoarthritis:
Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease of joints that occur most often in people over the age of 50.
Symptoms:
- Pain in the knee joint with morning stiffness of joint.
- Pain in hips
- Pain in fingers
- Movements are difficult at involved joints
- Enlargement of joints
- Morning stiffness of joints
People who are at Risk:
- Obese people
- People with prior joint injury
- People having a sedentary lifestyle
- People who consume much meat ( Meat contains Protein which contains Amino Acids, Breakdown of Amino Acids produces Urea .sometimes Urea Crystals are formed in Joints which causes pain and lead to Gout, Arthritis etc )
Diagnosis:
- It is usually diagnosed by symptoms
- The physician may advise X-ray of the Joint
- Rheumatoid Factor Test. Increased value suggest the presence of disease.
Treatment and Prevention:
- Regular Excercise
- Weight loss
- Pain Killers (NSAIDs) are given for pain relief
- If the symptoms persist despite the measures the physician may offer Glucocorticoid Injections or Surgery
